Rescue

Washington County Fire Rescue provides Rescue Services to our area and the surrounding areas when additional resources are needed. We have personnel that are trained in Vehicle Rescue, Machinery Rescue, Surface Water, Swift Water, Ropes Rescue, Hazardous Materials Operations and Technicians, Trench Rescue, and Confined Space rescue. Some of our members are also part of Bristol, Virginia's HTR Division 4 Team as well.

Rescue 1 is a 2007 Freightliner Hackney Rescue Truck. It has equipment to perform many different task if needed. It carries both electric and hydraulic extrication tools, air bags, and stabilization equipment for motor vehicle crashes or industrial incidents requiring specialized tools. It also carries equipment and supplies for Hazardous Materials Response at the Operations level to keep the scene under control until either VDEM or a Regional Hazardous Materials Team arrives to provide further assistance. We also carry different rope equipment to utilize in different situations if needed.

Rescue 1 is also Virginia Office of EMS certified as a First Response Apparatus so Basic Life Support can be provided until an ambulance or medical helicopter arrives to provide higher patient care.
